Will someone else be the one to write the ebook you were
going to write? Your ideas and topic are sure to appear as an ebook at some
point in the future, but it should be you who actually writes it. What has been
stopping you from getting started and becoming an author? Here are three things
that prevent most people from getting started:
- Procrastination – Many people have great dreams and
goals but they never seem to get around to acting on them. Months and then
years pass and they are still talking about what they are going to do. Don’t
let this happen to you. Get started now by setting a writing schedule for
yourself, making some goals for what you want to accomplish, and then
getting started right away. Even if you can only write for thirty minutes
each day, that’s alright. Think about finding a writing coach or mentor to
make the process more workable for you. Ordinary things, such as writing for
just a half hour a day, done consistently over time, can produce incredible,
extraordinary results.
- Perfectionism – We would all like to have everything
done perfectly in our lives. Everything in its place and writing that would
show true perfection. But that is not reality, nor should it be. Your
perfectly written article will sit on your computer’s hard drive while my
near perfect article is read by thousands of people around the world. Will
the same thing happen to your ebook? All of us are works in progress, so it
stands to reason that our writing would also be an ongoing effort. When
people need information on your topic they won’t care if it is perfectly
written or not.
- Writer’s block – I am going to tell you a little
secret: there is no such thing as writer’s block. If you have a story to
tell or information to share with others, your fingers will move into action
to get those words out on paper or into the computer. If you are truly
having difficulty writing, try recording your words and then have it
transcribed later.
Work on these three things and you can get started with
writing your ebook.
